All Around the Mulberry Bush – Pop Goes the Weasel !!!

All around the mulberry bush

The monkey chased the weasel.

The monkey thought ’twas all in fun.

Pop! Goes the weasel.

“The death toll from rain-related accidents in different areas of the city has risen to 28 while over a hundred people have also been injured following Saturday’s thunder-shower.” (http://www.dawn.com/wps/wcm/connect/dawn-content-library/dawn/news/pakistan/metropolitan/11-rain-toll-rises-to-28-as-family-of-four–nine-others-die–il–01).

This happens to be the latest yet modest feather in the cap. Hats off to everyone responsible!! Well done! That’s the team spirit! “Live together and kill together”. The show must go on till the last breath, of the poor (prone to easy victimization) nation.

A penney for a spool of thread,

A penney for a needle.

That’s the way the money goes.

Pop! goes the weasel.

Inflation maximized; food inflation quadrupled; fuel prices up; money devalued; subsidies removed; innumerous indirect taxes imposed; foreign reserves exhausted; all fair & innocent penalized; indebted to all & sundry with a commitment to form a cut-poor-throat policy framework; media restricted; non growth-oriented cum non people-friendly budget for the already crushed, both the country and its people; country’s image crucified; nation transformed to be a thing of pity; law & order a thing of the past; street crimes are the “in” thing, growing in popularity like the crazy, frenzied rock-star; the list is long.

Wrong, it is infinite.

“Com’on guys! Think of something quick. What else can we do to screw those bloody insects out there (or do we think of them any better than insects?).” (At least they think!)”Hey, this time probably we do not have to do anything but rather we don’t DO anything against the upcoming Monsoon rains!”.

Executed. Mission successful.

Up and down the City Road,

In and out of the Eagle,

That’s the way the money goes.

Pop! goes the weasel!!

  1. “Inflation maximized; food inflation quadrupled; fuel prices up; money devalued; subsidies removed; innumerous indirect taxes imposed; foreign reserves exhausted; all fair & innocent penalized; indebted to all & sundry with a commitment to form a cut-poor-throat policy framework; media restricted; non growth-oriented cum non people-friendly budget for the already crushed, both the country and its people; country’s image crucified; …..”

U know these things were in previous govts as well, and they are even now.. and the way things are going they are not going to improve. The graph of the overall nation seems to go down and down.

    Thing to ponder is:
“In this dark world of politics, the bhai culture, the street crimes, the crimes by law making bodies ex: Police, traffic police, the education system, the places like civic center.. etc what can we, the silent MAJORITY can do to change the world upside down? Is there any road map? Is there any hope?”..

  2. Pop! goes the weasel!!

Wow! thats a good idea. Reading through the article I can sense many things including misery, frustration, hopeless feelings, utter distress, the anguish coming from the inner side.

But I have a question. “What have we done to turn the tables around ?” have we done any thing to bring in the phrase “UN POP! Caught the Weasel”. It seems crticism is the easiest thing to do, I can critisize the government, politician (both current and ex), celebrities even on religious scholars, but have we done any thing about it.

People believe me when I say this “Its OUR Nation … They are our People … They are no one else but one of US” … better start taking the responsibility … if every one start performing his road map for the nation individually .. than collectively as a nation we can reach the milestone….

As it goes in RDB, Either accept what is going on and keep your mouth shut …. or take the responsibility to make the change … these are the only two ways to live…. ” … Criticism I guess is the easiest thing to do .. every one ranging from a school going kid to an eldery person is doing that …

    • I won’t comment on this for now, just quote a famous writer:
“Some people just can’t take criticism. And some people just can’t give it–not in a positive, motivating, mutually beneficial manner, anyway. That’s too bad, because criticism is essential to many aspects of business, such as performance appraisals, quality control, and team functioning, to name a few.”

      • I will not start a debate here, will just make a single point. Mohd. Ali Jinnah, Ghandi, Nelson Mandela, Mathmir Mohammad are some of the big names of our time … one thing that is common in all of them is that they are not famous critics! They did not criticize but got things done ….

  3. All these names just mentioned were the greatest critics of their time!

Mohammad Ali Jinnah criticized the fact that Muslims were forced to live together with Hindus whereas they were two seperate nations (I repeat that he emphasized on two seperate nations; one of the factors distinguishing the two nations was religion – the two nation theory in its essence is not a two-religion theory – another long debate – huh!).

Gandhi (and not Ghandi – as my friend puts it) was the greatest-of-all-time critic of violence, inequality and indiscipline.

Before his presidency, Mandela was an anti-apartheid activist. These men are great polictical leaders of all time who had brought in revolutionary changes. Had they not been skeptic of something, why would had they then thought of changing it?

Nevertheless, I respect your views. You, me and all others on the web are free men and women and we can choose to live and say our way, about whatever we feel like (while confirming to certain limits & standards ofcourse). That is also probably the whole point of blogging!
